19-20

There are many characters throughout Catcher in the Rye whom Holden interacts with or refers to. In chapters 19 & 20 alone, he mentions Luce, Sally, his mother and father, Phoebe, and Allie. In your blog, choose one of these characters and analyze Holden's feelings toward that person. How does Holden feel about them? How does he try to connect to them? How are they significant to the entire book? Respond using examples from the text to support!

LUCE- at first holden is stoked about luce because he remembers him when he was younger telling them stories about sex. but later on luce gets annoyed by holden and tells him he need to be anaylised by a psychologist holden gets offended by this. i think luce is significant to the book because its where holden finds out that he is going crazy and needs help.

fascinated by the young

Holden has so many feeling towards his younger sister phoebe ever since chapter 10 he has mentioned something about her at least once. holden just love how younger kids have that innocince to them and that they dont have to worry about adult problems and situations. that any mistake you make when your younger will be easy to fix because you are still learning. holden i think just wants to be young again and doesnt want to deal with all the adult problems.

Confused

Holden is very confused he cant make his mind up on things he wants to do. he says one thing but then he changes it. maybe hes scared of the outcome of his actions or decisions. but he is starting to get worse he is calling people that he hasnt hung out with in forever and now he's pressuring him self in to marriage he is going to or is heading for a break down.

Marriage poem

bow down, why now, one knee, she'll see
my ring, why thee,
she beloved me with all her heart til death does us part
we start, right, here, the alter my dear
the all shed tears, sincere we're here
together forever, forever whenever
you're here, im there, our vows we share

vicarious by mothers, vicarious by fathers
we make our own ways- through days to weeks to months to years
i wipe your tears-
im always here through thick and thin

our road begins
not one, but two
in nine were three
repeat from me
the words i speak
i take thee
to have, to hold
for better or worse
for richer, for poorer
in sickness n health
to love to cherish;
from now to death

I DO

chapter 16

1. What does it say? (paraphrase and describe the context)
2. What does it mean? (analyze and explain)
3. Why does it matter?

The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was.

that history never changes and never mores. once history is set it will not change in anyway or form. this matters because holdens passed is what is staying with him, with the death of his brother no matter how much he wants to forget or wants to change it, its in the past and its history

9-11

Holden has a lack of respect but its the type that every body has. because he doesn't show his lack of respect but since this story is told from his persepective we hear his thoughts, and everybody has had thoughts about not agreeing with a rule or a authroity figure. he also has a major lack of motavation, he thinks nothing applyto him. he thinks he's an out cast so normal things would not apply to him because no one cares to think about him.
